Why does Retina exist?
Retina started as a spreadsheet. Its founder tracked more than 50 wallets across EVM and Solana, yield positions on several protocols, Polymarket trades, physical gold and positions locked until different dates. No tool could answer the question that mattered most: how much does the whole portfolio earn per day?
Each existing tool answered part of it. DeBank listed what sat in EVM wallets, Jupiter did the same for Solana, and every protocol showed its own positions on its own page. Retina was built to answer the rest: what you own everywhere, what it earns, when it unlocks and how it changed. Your Portfolio Needs New Tools tells the full story.
Who builds Retina?
Retina is built by 3liXBT, who has invested in crypto since 2017 and writes about DeFi and onchain investing on X as @3liXBT.
How does Retina work?
Retina reads public addresses through established onchain data providers and resolves every holding into one model, where each position has a chain, a protocol, an asset class, a type and a value. It saves your portfolio as dated snapshots, automatically or by hand. Every number Retina shows, including every answer from Ask Retina, is calculated by Retina from that data.
What can you rely on?
- Read-only tracking. Retina never asks for a transaction, a permit, a token allowance, a seed phrase or a private key.
- Encryption. Wallet identities, labels, settings and snapshots are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage.
- No token. Retina has no token and has never had one. Its only website is useretina.xyz, its documentation is at docs.useretina.xyz and its code organisation is github.com/UseRetina. Anything else using the name is not Retina.
